Saint Clair
Vicar's Choice
Pinot Gris Bright Light

A lighter way to enjoy a fresh and luscious Marlborough Pinot Gris.

Winemaker:

Stewart Maclennan and Hamish Clark

Colour:

Light gold.

Aroma:

Golden pear, fresh bread crust and apple blossom aromas.

Palate:

A light and elegant texture with red apple, pear and cinnamon flavours, finishes crisp and refreshing.

Ageing potential:

Ready to drink now, this wine will continue to reward over the next few years.

Winemaking:

The grapes were harvested at optimum flavour ripeness but before the sugar level was too high. This allowed a lower alcohol wine to be produced. Fermented in stainless steel, the fermentation was stopped with a little residual sugar remaining to balance the natural acidity and add richness. Eight percent was also fermented in seasoned oak to build complexity. With a selection of specific yeasts used to increase mouth feel and help to keep the alcohol level low. The wine was lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling.

Wine Analysis:

Alcohol: 9.5% v/v, Titratable Acidity: 6.2g/litre, Residual Sugar: 7.6g/L, pH: 3.26.

Food match:

With its lower alcohol this wine is ideal as an aperitif and complements a wide variety of cheese.
