Vicar's Choice
Riesling Bright Light

A lighter way to enjoy the purity and flavours of Marlborough Riesling.

Winemaker:

Matt Thomson and Hamish Clark

Colour:

Bright lemon.

Aroma:

Lovely ripe melon combines with lime and lemon skin with a hint of elderflower.

Palate:

Citrus flavours are, enhanced with elderflower cordial, honeysuckle and a refreshing, off dry finish.

Ageing potential:

Perfect for immediate consumption, the high early harvest acidity will also allow it to age fantastically.

Winemaking:

Harvested early from a selected, naturally low cropping vineyard near Blind River in the Awatere Valley, this low alcohol Riesling brims with natural acidity. The lightly pressed juice was settled and then fermented slightly cold with clean fermenting yeast. The wine, with lower alcohol and higher acidity, was stopped with a refreshing natural balance of fruit sweetness. Minimal handling through to bottling resulted in a pure expression, but lower in alcohol Riesling.

Wine Analysis:

Alcohol: 9.00% v/v, Titratable Acidity: 9.40 g/litre, Residual Sugar: 26.30 g/L, pH: 2.82.

Food match:

Perfect on its own or match with light to medium flavoured Asian cuisine or fresh New Zealand seafood.
