Godfrey's Creek Reserve Gewurztraminer 2009

A medium-bodied wine with a palate expressing lychees and scrumptious Turkish delight

Winemaker:

Matt Thomson

Colour:

Pale gold

Aroma:

Intense aromas of crushed rose petals, lychees and Turkish delight.

Palate:

A medium-bodied wine with a soft round silky texture. Elegant and luscious, the aromas extend to the palate expressing more lychees and scrumptious Turkish delight.

Ageing potential:

Perfect for drinking now. This wine will continue to reward for the next three to five years.

Winemaking:

Grapes are left to soak for an extended period to assist in extraction of flavours from skins. Post pressing, settled clear juice is fermented with aromatic yeast which enhances the varietal expression of the wine.

Viticulture:

Grapes are sourced from Godfrey's Creek Vineyard in Marlborough's Brancott Valley. This low cropping, immaculately tended vineyard, produces fruit with intense varietal expression. The grapes were picked at night at the peak of flavour development.

Analysis:

Alcohol: 13% v/v, Titratable Acidity: 4.3g/litre, Residual Sugar: 8.5g/litre, pH: 3.87.

Food match:

Enjoy with Marlborough samon, spicy cuisine, duck or roast poultry.
