Saint Clair 2014 Vintage

Saint Clair
Hawkes Bay Premium
Viognier

Fragrant with flavours of tangerine and cinnamon and an oily texture.

Winemaker:

Matt Thomson and Hamish Clark

Colour:

Pale gold.

Aroma:

Fragrant peach and orange zest aromas laced with impressions of Asian spice.

Palate:

An oily, textural palate with apricot and tangerine flavours and a subtle cinnamon note.

Ageing potential:

An early drinking variety, at its best over the next three years.

Winemaking:

The grapes were harvested in the cool of the night and immediately transported to the Saint Clair winery in Marlborough, where they were pressed off, settled and fermented in tank with selected yeast.

Viticulture:

The grapes for this wine were harvested from Saint Clair’s vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels wine growing region of Hawkes Bay. The vigour moderating free-draining gravel is ideal for growing quality Viognier.

Wine Analysis:

Alcohol: 13.5% v/v, Titratable Acidity: 5.5 g/litre, Residual Sugar: 1.8 g/L, pH: 3.55.

Food match:

Well matched with a large array of foods, but a perfect accompaniment with a smoked chicken salad.
