Saint Clair Cleans up at Casino

The Christchurch Casino Sauvignon Blanc Charity Award 2009 was held on Thursday 5 November, where 50 finalists were featured in an industry tasting at The Grand Café.

Saint Clair won four of the six gold medals. Golds awarded to:
• Saint Clair Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2009
• Saint Clair Pioneer Block 18 Snap Block 2009
• Saint Clair Pioneer Block 19 Bird Block 2009
• Saint Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2009
• Esk Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2009
• Whitehaven (Greg) Sauvignon Blanc 2009

And the trophy for Champion Sauvignon Blanc went to Saint Clair Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2009. The awards were announced during a charity cocktail evening and auction. This event also featured tastings of the 50 finalist wines. All wines awarded gold medals will be featured in all Christchurch Casino outlets from 6 November until 24 December 2009. The winner of the Christchurch Casino Award will feature on their wine lists for the next 12 months.

One hundred percent of ticket sales will be going to the Canterbury Charity Hospital Trust. All entries must be made from 100% South Island sauvignon blanc 2009 vintage grapes.

Also yesterday at the Hong Kong International Wine Awards Saint Clair was awarded the New Zealand Champion Sauvignon Blanc Trophy for Saint Clair Pioneer Block 3 43 Degrees Sauvignon Blanc 2009 and the International Champion Sauvignon Blanc Trophy for the same wine.
