Three Trophies Awarded at Bragato

25 August 2008 Saint Clair wins awards across a wide range of varieties

Renowned New Zealand winery, Saint Clair Family Estate from Marlborough, has done it again, winning three trophies and four gold medals at the Bragato Wine Awards 2009 announced at the weekend.

The Bragato Wine Awards is New Zealand’s only wine competition which recognizes and acknowledges the growers of the vines used in producing successful wine.

In these awards, trophies were awarded to Martin and Gail Goyne for their grapes for Saint Clair Pioneer Block 6 Oh! Block Sauvignon Blanc 2008; Chris and Judith Simmonds for the grapes they produced that created Saint Clair Pioneer Block 12 Lone Gum Gewurztraminer 2007; and Neal and Judy Ibbotson (owners of Saint Clair) for the grapes for Saint Clair Rapaura Reserve Merlot 2006.

Managing Director, and vine grower, for Saint Clair Family Estate, Neal Ibbotson, comments; “The grapes used to make our wines are a crucial part of the wine-making process and are a major contributing factor in determining the quality of the wine produced. We firmly believe at Saint Clair, that a critical part of our success is directly attributed to the quality of the fruit we use in our wines.”

Saint Clair also won a gold medal for its Pioneer Block 5 Bull Block Pinot Noir 2007.

With such success over many varieties – Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Merlot and Pinot Noir – Saint Clair is continually demonstrating that they are one of New Zealand’s leading quality producers.
