"Each time I’ve seen a new vintage of their premium Saint Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, I’ve believed it was the best NZ Sauvignon of its year."
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Shines at Awards27 September 2006
Bob Campbell MW, presents Neal Ibbotson with the award for Champion Winery of the Show at the 2006 New Zealand International Wine Show Marlborough Express 27 September 2006
With 2150 entries, the 2006 New Zealand International Wine Show – held on Friday – was the largest wine competition ever held in this country.
Saint Clair Estate Wines was awarded the Marcrest Designs Trophy for Champion Winery of the Show after the winery picked up the most gold medals of any winery entered in the show.
Of the 14 golds for sauvignon blanc Saint Clair picked up five of them and its Saint Clair Pioneer Block 6 Sauvignon Blanc 2006 was awarded the varietal’s trophy, Mr Wood said.
“It’s absolutely a staggering performance, it could be a long time before that feat is reported,” Mr Wood said.
Neal Ibbotson of Saint Clair said he was delighted with the win. The judging panel included five masters of wine and it was an honour to have been chosen by them.
