Saint Clair Family Estate – New Zealand Producer of the Year!

26 October 2016

Saint Clair’s recent run of success in international wine shows has hit a crescendo with the AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge 2016 awarding Saint Clair Family Estate the trophy for the Best New Zealand Producer of the Year. A trophy was also awarded for the Saint Clair Pioneer Block 25 Point Five Sauvignon Blanc 2015, for Sauvignon Blanc (more than 13.0 percent alcohol).

The AWC Vienna is the largest officially recognised wine competition in the world with over 12 thousand wines entered from 41 different countries in 2016. This leading show has been operating for the last 13 years and through the use of the official blind tasting system and strict tasting rules it has developed a reputation of having incredibly high standards.

Managing director Neal Ibbotson comments; “it is a thrill to have our winery recognised for consistency in quality and I am honoured to be part of an amazing team of people that have enabled us to achieve these most highly regarding awards. Being recognised for Winery of the Year further cements our uncompromising approach to attention to quality detail. A strong team approach from the vineyard to the bottle ensures wines of excellence shared by our consumers around the globe.”

This news arrives the same time as the local and prestigious Air New Zealand Wine Awards announce their gold medal winners. Saint Clair has achieved Gold medal status for a variety of wines at various price points.

The following Saint Clair wines have been awarded;
GOLD - Saint Clair Marlborough Premium Riesling 2015
GOLD - Saint Clair Pioneer Block 1 Foundation Block Sauvignon Blanc 2016
GOLD - Saint Clair Pioneer Block 20 Cash Block Sauvignon Blanc 2016
GOLD - Saint Clair Pioneer Block 15 Strip Block Pinot Noir 2015
GOLD - Saint Clair Pioneer Block 17 Plateau Merlot 2015

The Saint Clair team will be visiting Auckland and attending the awards dinner presentation in November where they look forward to celebrating their gold medal achievements.

Consistent recognition in a variety of wine competitions both locally and internationally is a clear display of quality across the Saint Clair range of varietals and price points. This acknowledgement reinforces Saint Clair’s positioning as a leading New Zealand wine producer.
