Saint Clair Double Show Victory

Saint Clair Family Estate is delighted with the announcement of two highly regarded New Zealand wine shows awarding Saint Clair as category winners.
Saint Clair Premium Viognier 2015 was awarded Best in Class at the Hawke’s Bay A&P Bayleys Wine Awards and the Saint Clair Premium Grüner Veltliner 2015 was awarded the trophy for the Champion Other Aromatic Varieties at the New Zealand International Aromatic Wine Competition.
In line with Marlborough’s wine production, Saint Clair’s most famous varietal is Sauvignon Blanc and this variety has been the most awarded for Saint Clair. More recently the family owned winery have received a wider range of trophies throughout their wine portfolio leading to further recognition as a leading New Zealand winery.
It is the combination of climate and soils at the Saint Clair’s Hawke’s Bay vineyard that contribute greatly to the flavour profile and quality level of their Viognier. Vineyard Manager Murray Hill and his wife Adrienne were at the presentation dinner on Tuesday night to proudly accept the award on behalf of Saint Clair.
Grüner Veltliner is still considered a relatively new varietal for the Saint Clair portfolio. Although some wine consumers may find this alternate varietal difficult to pronounce, once tasted they find a wine that is clean and fresh in style, easy drinking and a terrific wine match with a diverse range of cuisine.
Saint Clair Winemaker Hamish Clark comments; “This is such a thrill to be recognised for these non-mainstream varieties. We work hard in the winery to create wines that reflect their vineyard terroir. This recognition of quality is a tribute to the dedicated team working collectively to provide wines that will exceed customers’ expectations.
