Decanter Win for Saint Clair Family Estate

28 September 2016

Saint Clair Family Estate is celebrating an outstanding achievement at the Decanter Asia Wine Awards 2016. The Saint Clair Omaka Reserve Pinot Noir 2014 has been awarded the trophy for the best New Zealand Pinot Noir.

The Saint Clair Omaka Reserve Pinot Noir 2014 was judged amongst over 2,850 wine entries. Wines were tasted blind, by more than 40 judges and rated against their peers in Hong Kong earlier this month. This wine, of uncompromising quality, has been found to be the best example of Pinot Noir from New Zealand.

The Decanter Asia Wine Awards 2016 is now in its fourth year and entries have risen strongly since the competition was launched assisting it to becoming a leading international wine competition, recognised globally.

These results arrived at the same time as the New Zealand International Wine Show awards were announced. At this leading international wine competition Saint Clair achieved the following gold medals;

GOLD - Saint Clair Omaka Reserve Chardonnay 2015

GOLD - Saint Clair Pioneer Block 10 Twin Hills Chardonnay 2014

GOLD - Saint Clair Pioneer Block 11 Cell Block Chardonnay 2014

GOLD - Saint Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2016

GOLD - Saint Clair Pioneer Block 17 Plateau Cabernet Merlot 2014

Saint Clair Family Estate director Neal Ibbotson comments; “we feel incredibly proud that our wines, judged blind, are consistently rewarded for their level of quality. Our open-minded approach to excellence in the vineyard, the winery and across all facets of the business is imperative to achieving this.”

The award success is the result of dedication and upmost professionalism of the entire Saint Clair team – a tribute to the family owned Marlborough winery.
